In this section I have included sites that are relevant to the health, entertainment and welfare of children.

• This is a very useful site for teachers and parents as it shows you, step by step, how to make pop-ups.

• CalPhotos is a collection of 103,345 images of plants, animals, fossils, people, and landscapes. A variety of organizations and individuals have contributed photographs to CalPhotos. Please be aware that these various contributors maintain copyright and follow the usage guidelines provided with each image.

• What an excellent idea from Simply Audiobooks to produce and distribute books in audio form.  This is your chance to develop a love of the spoken word in your children.  Let them learn to use their “minds eye” as they listen (in many cases) to the author read their own work.  It makes a welcome change from having kids (and adults) sit in front of a T.V. to sit and listen and use their imagination.

• Here's a site you must visit. It's the original Sesame Street sound archive.  You can download MP3 and WAV files for free as well as lyrics.

• Project Gutenberg is the first and largest single collection of free electronic.  It was set  up in 1971 by Michael Hart with the mission statement "to encourage the creation of ebooks".  Here you can read or listen to some of the literary masterpieces from various countries and languages.  Some of the titles are read by a computer (takes a little getting used to) while others are read by human.  Well worth a visit to expose  your kids (and adults) to the beauty of the spoken word.

• Child Safe is a national safety initiative for families; providing advice, safety products and tools to help keep children safe.  A secure and password protected registration allows you to record and update information which could prove vital if your child is ever lost or involved in an accident. If a child is lost for more than a few minutes, parents can quickly create a missing poster either via our support line or online themselves, which can then be printed off or emailed out;  Anywhere in the World.
   

• Just Childsplay provides an excellent range of quality educational toys and games.. Each product has been carefully selected to stimulate the learning desire of every child through play and activity. Indeed, many of the products have won recognition from leading institutions for their educational content. The range caters for children from birth to around 12 years of age. • Free basic lessons in cartooning based on the basic shapes of drawing, sketching and art fundamentals.

• World Kids Network^tm is a non-profit organization dedicated to children worldwide. This entire site has been put together completely through the efforts of children and adults worldwide. Almost 80% of this award winning site is put together and/or run by children! Virtually all of the images, text, programming and stories are original works contributed by volunteers, sponsors, and the kids themselves.
